The Exhibition Area of the Faculty of Arts has been in use since May 2007. The first exhibition, which was organised by prof. dr. Marjeta Ciglenečki, featured the works of professor Anka Krašna. Since then, the Exhibition Area has been the venue for numerous exhibitions of artworks by established artists, somewhat forgotten artists, and young artists who are still searching for their place in the creative world. The selected collections of their works are presented by professors from the Department of Fine Arts at the Faculty of Education of the University of Maribor, former students of the Department, as well as artists from Maribor and the wider Slovenian area. These artworks have become an integral part of the Exhibition Area of the Faculty of Arts, as they invite people to look and think about them. The office space has become a place to explore fine art and a space for discussion and interpretation of artworks. Exhibitions are also an integral part of the learning process for the students of the Department of Art History. Many of them participate in the preparation of exhibitions as part of their Master’s thesis preparation and as part of the subject’s practical training.
