Progression onto 4-year third cycle doctoral programmes and continuing studies after 3-year programmes
In accordance with the provisions of the Call for Enrolment in Postgraduate Study Programmes of the University of Maribor, the Faculty of Arts of the University of Maribor no longer offers 3-year third cycle doctoral study programmes for the Academic Year 2019/2020. From this Academic Year onwards, only 4-year doctoral study programmes are to be offered across all departments.
The Faculty of Arts at the University of Maribor has gradually moved from 3-year to 4-year programmes:
- during the 2018/2019 Academic Year, the University offered the first year of the 3-year doctoral study programmes (third cycle) for the last time;
- during the 2019/2020 Academic Year, the University offered the second year of the 3-year doctoral study programmes (third cycle) for the last time;
- during the 2020/2021 Academic Year, the University offered the third year of the 3-year doctoral study programmes (third cycle) for the last time.
Students who succeed in making regular progress can complete their studies across 3-year programmes. Those who do not meet the requirements for advancing to a higher year, and are thus required to repeat the year, are instead given additional obligations to complete the 4-year programme when they re-enrol for the year. Those who do not meet the requirements for advancement to a higher year, and instead decide to discontinue their studies must apply for additional requirements to complete their studies as part of 4-year programmes when enrolling in a successive academic year.
