Opis
The GEOREGNET summer schools try to cover crucial topics in a systematic way. The 4th GEOREGNET summer school, which will take place in September 2012 in Prešov, will focus on the social relevance of Geography. The main topics will include:
- Inclusion of new member states into the European Union,
- Convergence and divergence of EU regions,
- Administrative decentralisation processes in the context of spatial disparity equalisation,
- Modern Europe: place, culture, identity.
Students will be asked to study some preliminary readings and to write an introductory essay based on these readings. Besides regular lectures and seminars, the summer school will focus also on fieldwork (excursions, discussions with experts, authorities and similar).
Programme draft:
The Summer School will take place from 3rdSeptember to 16th September 2012 in Prešov, at the University of Prešov, Faculty of Humanities and Natural Science.
This will be a two-week summer school (10 working days) with up to 10 professors invited. One professor will cover a minimum of 6 teaching hours (lectures), which will be divided into two days. Lectures will take place in the mornings (9 am-12 am) and workshops in the afternoons (14 pm-16 pm), which will be covered by teachers from Prešov. An excursion will be organized during the weekend.
The day of arrival of students will be Sunday, 16th September. The accommodation for students will be provided in the student dormitory.
The GEOREGNET students will receive a stipend which will cover accommodation at the student dormitories, travel costs (where applicable in accordance with the rules of national CEEPUS offices – ask there for more detailed information) and some pocket money for meals.
Workload value of students’ work: 5 ECTS
Students will obtain a certificate of attendance stating their workload.
The working language will be English.
