Opis
The GEOREGNET summer schools cover crucial topics in a systematic way. The 5th GEOREGNET summer school entitled “Urban transitions”, which will take place in September 2014 in Kraków, will focus on the urban transitions. The main topics will include:
- Socio-demographic changes in post-socialist cities during transformation period,
- Spatio-functional structure and land use changes in a post-socialist cities,
- Economic transitions of cities after communism,
- New processes in post-socialist cities: revitalization, urban regeneration, gentrification,
- Besides regular lectures and seminars, the summer school will focus also on fieldwork, excursions, discussions with experts, authorities and similar.
Students’ obligations include preliminary literature readings. Students will be asked to prepare and show a presentation about different aspects of urban transitions.
The summer school lasts two weeks (10 working days). Lectures will take place between 9 am and 16 pm.
The Summer School will take place from 1st September to 14th September 2014 in Kraków, at the Jagiellonian University, Institute of Geography and Spatial Management.
The day of arrival of students will be Sunday, 31st August 2014. The accommodation for students will be provided in the student dormitory.
Workload value of students’ work: 5 ECTS
Students will obtain a certificate of attendance stating their workload.
The working language will be English.
The GEOREGNET students will receive a CEEPUS scholarship. The students should pay the accommodation as well as board (meals) costs from the scholarship.
